Janelle J. Brown, OD
Dr. Janelle Brown’s education includes: graduated with a Bachelor of Arts in Biology & Spanish minor with Honors in 2011 from Augustana College, and she received her Doctorate of Optometry with Honors in 2015 from the Illinois College of Optometry. She belongs to the following associations: American Optometric Association, Illinois Optometric Association, and Bloomington Regional Optometric Society.
A Pontiac-native, Dr. Brown returned to the area following graduation as an associate optometrist for Pontiac Family Eye Care and Fairbury Vision Center. She became a partner of the practice in January of 2017 with the retirement of Dr. Robin Coady from the Fairbury office. Dr. Brown sees patients in our Pontiac location.
Her training at clinics throughout the Chicagoland area provided Dr. Brown with experience diagnosing and managing various ocular diseases including glaucoma, macular degeneration, and diabetic eye disease. Throughout her training, she has also developed interests in Low Vision, Contact Lenses, and Post-Surgical Management. Dr. Brown offers low vision evaluations and prescribes low vision devices to help increase independence for those with vision loss.
During optometry school, she was the recipient of various scholarships (ICO Alumni Association scholarship, Exceptional Tutor scholarship, and Student Association Essay Scholarship) and honors (Gold Key, Tomb & Key, Beta Sigma Kappa) recognizing her academic and clinical achievements, commitment to the profession, and service to the community.
Dr. Brown resides in Lexington with her husband Corey and their newborn son Atlas. They have three dogs and eight reptiles. She serves on the board of the Pontiac Area Chamber of Commerce. In her free time, she enjoys traveling, hiking, cooking, and walking her dogs.
